hi everyone, hope you are all doing well, it’s so so cold here brrrrr!

as part of the silhouette uk design team I wanted to use this weeks free shape of the week… 8th – 14th march 2016

Daisy Brush(3)

i don’t know about you but I LOVE a font and this one is called daisy brush script, pop over to the silhouette store and download it, it’s available all this week!

soooooo one of the frillies have a butterfly themed bedroom so why not make a piece of home decor for the wall? i knew i wanted to use an 8′ embroidery hoop as my frame so i started off by painting the outside rim pink as this part would be showing.

next i used my silhouette to create a circle measuring 8.2′ so that it would cover and stick to the inside of the hoop. the papers i have used for this are by the wonderful Paige Taylor Evans and the collection is called ‘fancy free’. i used a beautiful very pale blue as the main circle. once i had cut it on the silhouette i drew around it on to some thicker card to make it more sturdy.

then glued them together using my double sided tape. the next step was to attach it to the hoop, for this i used wet glue.

i used my silhouette cameo to cut the word ‘flutter’ out of some of the patterned paper and popped it up on some 3d foam tape for some added dimension.

i then used a couple of my punches and more beautiful papers to create butterfly shapes, i could have done this on my silhouette too!

to make the butterflies more interesting i used thin metal wire and wrapped it around the centre of each butterfly, leaving a small length at each end that i could shape with my fingers. to attach the butterflies on to the paper i used my hot glue gun and just applied it to the centres so that i could pinch up the wings so they look like they are flapping their wings.

at the bottom of the circle i used some of the chipboard from the collection that i cut down to fit the curved edge.

in between the butterflies i added some adorable puffy shaped butterflies in matching colours.

this is such a quick and easy project that adds a little unique piece of home decor for the wall.

here is the finished hoop…

i really hope you like it.
