i’ve had the cyndi lauper true colours song going around my head for weeks, i love that song so much and i knew i needed to incorporate it in to a layout.
i had a search in my silhouette library for a cut file that i’d downloaded previously; called circles tile. it has the look of multiple rainbows and was perfect. i used the technique i posted previously for changing a cut file to a stitched template.
rather than go for the actual colours of the rainbow i chose pastel shades as i wanted it to have a soft feel to the layout. now the time consuming but enjoyable task of stitching the whole background. this one really did take a long time but i persisted and popped some trashy TV on and kept going!
i rarely add journaling to my layouts as the layouts are of my best friends twins, we are collaborating on ‘the frillies project’ (their nickname since being babies) and it’s a secret from the twins. we work together on it, i make and louise writes the details – but – sometimes i can’t help myself and i pop some quotes, lyrics or my memories and messages for them.
anyway, back to the layout and how i did the journaling. it’s super simple. i just typed up the lyrics that i wanted to use and then cut every word out as i wanted it to follow the curves of the rainbows. in order to make sure they fit in each of the arches i had to make my little cluster of layers and add the photo first. for this layout i used the newly released papers and embellishments from maggie holmes called bloom. i am seriously in love with these, what’s not to love! i got mine from hey little magpie and i know lots has sold out but they should be getting some more in.
the butterflies in this collection are just gorgeous, i cut the yellow one from the cut apart sheet and the pink one is a sticker that i put on some white card and cut out. to make them a little more special i twisted some silver wire around their bodies and raised them on pop dots. the silver heart is by freckled fawn which i bought from the like forever shop.
this photo is just soooooo gorgeous – they are never happier than at the beach. honestly i see them looking so free, happy and together and it represents a moment in time that i want them to looks back on and know they were and are so loved.
that’s pretty much it, so here is the final layout…
i really hope you like it and feel inspired to do a little bit of sewing.
