a layout share today featuring machine stitching
a while ago i saw a gorgeous layout by paige evans where she had stitched the plain white background with white thread using her sewing machine to create diagonal lines in both directions so it looked like a quilt. it was one of those layouts that stuck in my mind for it’s simplicity and texture. now, i’ve searched for that image and can’t find it grrrrrrr.
before i stitched i used some rub ons from my like for ever kit this month, they matched the design i wanted to cut. i had to make sure i did this step before i stitched.
anyway – that was the basis for this layout. i chose to do mainly vertical stitching but i added in a few horizontal ones too for added interest.
in my kit this month was a gorgeous pink ombre pattern, i cut out some geometric hearts using my silhouette in various sizes but taking care to catch the different shades of pink. these were backed with other papers from the kit and some teal card stock i’ve had in my stash for ages. some were popped up on foam, others straight on to the background.
layering lots of papers and ephemera i made a photo mat then added a variety of chipboard shapes from some of my stash as i’m on a mission to use up bits and bobs! the top left of the layout needed a little something as it felt a little bare, that gold glitter washi tape is A-MAZE-ING! (bought for my planner but is sneaking it’s way into all areas of my life). lastly a generous smattering of enamel dots and the title which fit perfectly in to the grid lines on the bottom left hand side YAY!
here is the final layout….
i really hope you like it.
