mitten weather

so i had an idea to use this fabulous snowflake cut file from Paige Taylor Evans (can you tell I love her work HA!) in to a cross stitch design.

i cut the file using my silhouette cameo on plain white card stock, then using washi tape i placed and secured it over a fresh piece of white card stock. in each of the holes I drew a cross in pencil, then removed the top cut file to reveal just a load of x marks. using my paper piercing tool i made a hole at the 4 corners of the cross then rubbed out the pencil marks……DSC_0046DSC_0047DSC_0049DSC_0050

using mainly red i sewed the layout, just using odd touches of pink to highlight certain areas.

then grouping lots of the paper in random shapes i created a layered mat for my photograph, bobbed on the title and finished up with a circle of sequins in the centre of the snowflake. i left the main part of the stitching bare as i wanted it to stand alone.

here’s the final layout!

i hope you like it and thanks for looking – don’t be shy, leave me a comment!

’til next time
