acorn avenue kit layout two ….

ok, i’ll admit it, i’m a HUGE fan of wilna furstenberg and she posted a video on her channel where she made a beautiful layout with painted leaves – soooooo that’s where this layout began…..

i used my silhouette cameo, downloading a leaf cut file, resized them and cut them out of textured white american crafts card stock (my go to white card stock for backgrounds). then grabbed my watercolours and got mixing up a variety of shades of violet, orange, yellow and peach tones to match the leaves in the photograph I wanted to use. i didn’t worry about how neatly i did them; often using many layers to build up a finish i wanted. lastly i then splattered on more layers of colour on the top to try and reflect how leaves age naturally. i popped them on one side whilst they dried naturally……

……..meanwhile i gathered lots of different sizes of the paper from acorn avenue kit and made up a cluster so that bits of paper were visible, creating dimension and the texture too. the photograph was raised off the page with 3D sticky foam tape.

now the leaves were dried i wanted to highlight some of them, i used an embossing pad and some wow gold embossing powder and a polka dot stamp, varying it with just pressing some of the tips of the leaves on to the pad, heated them up and WOWSER, i just loved the result. it made such a difference to the result of the layout, so shiny and scrumptious!

with it being an autumn layout i wanted to make it look like the leaves were falling to the ground in a big pile, so i placed everything to achieve that look, adding in some of the beautiful acetate shapes that came in the kit.

lastly the title – as lily is kicking up the leaves i called it ‘heaps of fun’ with subtle white and gold puffy letters.

i really hope you like this layout – i had a great time getting messy with the paints and am totally chuffed with how it turned out, especially the violet and gold coloured leaf!
